AI interface design requires solving problems that do not exist in standard product work. The interface must distinguish between retrieved data and generated responses, surface model confidence without creating alarm, and handle latency that varies with query complexity rather than network speed alone.
The deliverable is a design system that covers every state the interface enters during a model interaction: loading, response, low confidence, error, empty, and override.
